The Abbotsford Convent is an extraordinary place, and its 11 historical buildings, gardens and car park are spread over 6.8 hectares in a sweeping bend in the Yarra River and is surrounded by the Collingwood Children's Farm and Yarra Bend Park.

After lunch we will visit Victoria Park the headquarters of Collingwood Football Club for 107 years until 2005.

We will depart by train from Watsonia Station, and board as a group to Flinders St Station.  We then catch the Flinders St No 70 Tram to Waterfront City Marina Docklands and get off at stop D11, with a short walk to the Tramboat.  We then depart Victoria Harbour and cruise upstream of the Yarra River, through the City, as far as Hawthorn. (Depending on tides)

As morning tea is served we make our way to Herring Island, where you have time for a stroll around the island.  We continue our journey on board with Gourmet sandwiches being served.  As you relax you can view the beautiful houses of the rich and famous along the banks of Toorak and beyond.

Take the 9.15 am train from Macleod Station (park your car at Macleod Netball stadium)boarding last carriage as a group to Southern Cross Station, then catching the Bourke St No 86 Tram to the Docklands and alighting at the last stop D11, with a short walk to the Tramboat.  We cruise out of the everchanging Docklands through thr Port of Melbourne along the intriguing Maribyrnong River, passing Henderson House, Flemington Racecourse, the new Edgewater Estate, through suburbs like Ascot Vale and the beautiful Essendon Boulevard to our final destination Avondale Heights, where you can get out for a stroll to the sight of the original Tea Gardens. The Tramboat takes us back to the City.  Return by 3.30 pm.

Leaving Cnr. Elder St & Delta Rd, Greensborough at 9 am, return 5 pm.

The Wonthaggi State Coal Mine is the only historical coal mine experience in the Southern Hemisphere.  Entry is free to the site above ground where you can meet Cobber the pit pony.  Also free is the heritage walk amongst buildings and garden, and a film in the theatre.

Morning  Tea will be at Kilcunda, and Lunch at the Wonthaggi Whalebone Hotel. Afterwards we will have a leisurely drive back home along the coast road. If time allows we may drive by the Desalination Plant.
